Impaired driving

Over two days, March 15 and 16, Squamish RCMP investigated two separate incidents of impaired driving. The first came after a driver hit a parked car. RCMP determined the driver had been drinking, and gave the driver a prohibition, meaning the driver is banned from driving a vehicle anywhere in Canada for a length of time. The vehicle was towed. The second investigation caught a driver under the influence of a drug (unspecified in the press release provided by RCMP). The driver was given a driving prohibition and their vehicle was impounded. The RCMP thanked the public for reporting impaired drivers.

Stolen e-bike

After an unlocked e-bike was left outside a restaurant on Highway 99, the bike — valued at $8,000 — was reported stolen. The owner said the theft happened between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 12. The e-bike is a green/grey Specialized Turbo Levo.

Fraud in Squamish

Someone in Squamish reported on March 13 that although they wire transferred money and then received a bank notification that the transfer was accepted, the money went into another account. Both the person reporting and the intended transfer recipient reported the incident to their banks and the police.

On March 16, a Squamish resident transferred $3,000 to purchase and install a car wrap, and was promised he would later be paid for the advertisement. The RCMP press release said this is fraud.
