Yes, the Sea to Sky Gondola did temporarily close earlier this week, but no — it was not because of the wildfire smoke.
Christy Allan, director of sales and marketing, said that the real reason for the closure a couple days ago was due to northerly outflow winds, which generally don’t happen in the summer.
“Just for safety purposes we don’t operate over a certain wind speed,” Allan said.
The wildfire smoke wasn’t a factor in the closure, she added, and air quality won’t have an impact on the gondola’s operations.
“We are absolutely open through the wildfire smoke,” Allan said.
