Face-off; this is a first for Squamish.

In early December, there will be a Holiday Cup: a three-game women’s hockey series, including prizes, giveaways, fundraising for The Market (food bank)—and a coaches' rivalry.

Squamish Women's Hockey Academy head coaches Katie Jones and Nicole Peterson are leading one team versus the duo of owner of the Academy, Evelyn Schellenberg, and Mike Borrelli, the owner of Shift Hockey Academy.

The games are Dec. 6, 13 and 20, from 8 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at Brennan Park Arena.

“We will be giving out the Holiday Cup at the very end of the last game, and it’s going to be so much fun,” said Schellenberg in an email to The Squamish Chief.

An event kick-off is set for Monday, Dec. 4, at Backcountry Brewing to announce teams and have a social.
