Squamish’s mountain biking prodigy has scored a major victory on the world stage.
Jackson Goldstone has clinched the top position in the junior men’s division at the Lenzerheide Downhill World Cup 2022 series.
“Today was huge for the program! Big win today and stoked to keep this momentum into Andorra next week,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thanks team for everything.”
According to results posted by Pinkbike.com, Goldstone edged out the next closest racer, Lachlan Stevens-McNab by about a second and a half.
Goldstone had a time of 2:50.072, while Stevens-McNab was on his heels with a time of 2:51.585.
The Squamish athlete currently has the top overall standing in the elite junior men’s division with a total of 220 points.
His next closest competitor is Jordan Williams of Great Britain, who has 210 points in the season so far.
In third is Lachlan Stevens-McNab of New Zealand, who has 165.
The Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series consists of 12 competitions this year. Downhill biking is featured in nine of those events.
The next competition will take place from July 15 to 17 in Vallnord, Andorra.
