Squamish cross-country mountain bikers Marin Lowe and Ella MacPhee embrace.

Three athletes represented the Sea to Sky well this past weekend at the 2025 Canadian XCO & XCC Mountain Bike Championships.

Marin Lowe duked it out with childhood friend Ella MacPhee in the ladies' U23 cross-country Olympic (XCO) race, prevailing in a time of one hour, seven minutes and 9.67 seconds. MacPhee filled the runner-up spot (1:07:17.81) and third went to Ella Myers (1:10:30.99).

"Super tight battle down to the last lap with [Ella MacPhee]," Lowe wrote on social media about her Saturday triumph. "Amazing to have so many friends and family supporting me this week. Thank you!"

It was a slightly different outcome in the elite women's short-track (XCC) two days prior, as Jennifer Jackson submitted a golden effort (19:36). MacPhee grabbed silver (19:46) and Lowe earned bronze (20:17).

"So thankful to have so many friends and family [in Langford, B.C.] for this nationals weekend," said MacPhee on her Instagram account. "Incredibly stoked with second in the elite short track, just hanging onto a flying [Jennifer Jackson] all race! The XCO came to a bittersweet end with a last lap crash after a sweet battle with my buddy [Marin Lowe]."

Ethan Wood placed second in the U19 expert men's XCC contest (15:31) in a razor-close result behind victor Emilien Belzile (15:31), as Tristan Taillefer found himself third (15:39).

MacPhee and Wood subsequently joined forces with Maddox Johnson and Carter Nieuwesteeg to push Team BC to relay bronze (47:35.40). Pivot Cycle topped the podium (46:11.10) and Team Siboire were the runner-ups (47:34.90).
