These are indeed unusual times. Families and friends are kept apart and celebrations have been put on hold.
For children, especially, it can be hard to understand why their special day — their birthday — can't be celebrated in the way it normally would, with friends and a party.
Local RCMP officers are stepping up and offering to make Squamish kids' birthdays special with a "lights and sirens" drive-by.
"The Squamish RCMP would like to help brighten your child's special day during this pandemic! Contact us and we will send a police car with lights and sirens." reads a Squamish RCMP Tweet sent out April 8.
Want to book them or know more? Email Cst. Christine Robinson at christine.robinson@rcmp-grc.gc.ca, with the child's birth date, age, address, and favourite song.
