A new building for local furniture and woodworking company Leon Lebeniste has been approved at 38935 Queens Way.

Council voted unanimously in favour of granting a development permit to Hewitt Group Inc. for the building.

The permit would allow the construction of a 2,651-square-metre industrial building on a cleared, disturbed site, a report to council says.

The surrounding sites are undeveloped, disturbed sites. A recently-developed multi-tenanted light industrial complex is located across Queens Way to the east.

Leon Lebeniste would occupy the ground floor as well as a second-floor mezzanine reception area and office space.

The proposed building would provide a third floor of four leasable light industrial units and a small 30-seat maximum café, open to the public with rooftop patio.
