When Squamish RCMP arrived at a vehicle fire in Lions Bay, they found a deceased female.
The vehicle was parked on Sunset Drive on Feb. 10, around 7:15 a.m., when police attended the scene.
The Independent Investigations Office, an oversight agency of police-related incidents, has opened an investigation into the circumstances around the female’s death.
The day before, on Feb. 9 around 9:30 a.m., the same female was released from North Vancouver RCMP custody.
The investigation aims to determine if the death was related to officers’ actions or inactions.
