Developer Michael Hutchison is seeking to build a public dock right beside his Sirocco housing project, and the public comment period ends on Jan. 18.

The District says this project is part of Sirocco's community amenity contribution and that it will be publicly accessible to all.

An application filed under the Canadian Navigable Waters Act indicates one of Hutchison's companies, Mireau Property Developments Ltd., is asking the federal minister of transport for permission to build an eight-square-metre gangway and 105-square-metre dock on the Mamquam Blind Channel.

The document says it will "enable public access to the waterway for recreational purposes."

This notice bears the signature of Hutchison.
