Quest University's president is in stable condition after being struck by a car in Abbotsford, on Sunday morning.

George Iwama was hit while walking across an intersection in Abbotsford's downtown area at around 10 a.m., according to a press release from the school.

He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he remains. Although non-life-threatening, his injuries will require surgery on his broken leg.

"The Quest community is relieved that the outcome was not worse," said Jasmine Aimaq, director of communications for the university in the release. "We wish Dr. Iwama a speedy and complete recovery... Quest's board and executive will ensure the university continues to operate smoothly and uninterrupted."
