Mayor Karen Elliott has announced she will no longer be working as a private consultant, saying she would rather focus solely on her role in local government.

Elliott’s announcement was made on LinkedIn this past week.

“After balancing being mayor and a scaled-back version of my consulting practice in 2019, I have decided to take a sabbatical from consulting and focus full-time on the challenges and opportunities that come with local government,” reads a post she made on LinkedIn.

She did not give a date for when she would resume her consulting practice.

The website of her business has gone offline.

During her first year as mayor, Elliott recused herself from decisions at least once due to potential conflicts of interest associated with her business.

On her LinkedIn profile, Elliott said her practice fostered leadership and team development, among other things, in organizations.
