A recent report by NewVoiceMedia, an international cloud contact software provider, reveals poor customer service is costing businesses in the U.S. more than $75 billion a year.

Squamish is an absolutely awesome place to live. We have amazing landscapes and a great sense of community. We invite the world to our backyard and they are increasingly heeding the call. That said, Squamish is not Disneyland.

Totally agree with the editorial saying that Squamish shouldn’t ban straws. [“Banning straws is a bad idea, Squamish”] A seemingly bigger problem both in the water and on land, are those six-pack plastic rings that are used to hold cans together.

Cannabis will officially be legal on Oct. 17, but as the period of a legal grey area closes, it is obvious that some communities have had an easier transition than others.

As the future comes hurtling towards us with rapid changes in the ways we work, technology and the economy, keeping up is difficult.

It seems to be the last bastion of socially acceptable prejudice even here in open and progressive Squamish — ageism.

Unlike any other period in the past, there is a growing divide between people who are chafing at the bit to move to Squamish, or presently live here, and love the place, and those who can’t wait to get out of town, or have already hightailed it.
