Not that many years ago, people with mental illness were being burned at the stake as witches or as possessed by demons. Though no longer the case, we still push "them" to the periphery of society, shunning people out of fear or ignorance.

Editor, It is now five years since the horror of the tsunami that devastated parts of India, Sri Lanka etc. Shortly afterward the community of Squamish opened their hearts and wallets to "adopt" the community of Wanduruppa.

Editor, We would like a believable, logical reason why our school district's name has been changed. All the people that I have mentioned this to had no idea this has happened. A very proud "Howe Sound District #48" is now "Sea to Sky District #48.

Editor, In response to last week's article ("Tour touts benefits of wood biomass fuel," The Chief, Nov. 20), I would like to assert that switching from burning oil and gas to biomass as an energy source is going from the frying pan into the fire.
