Stepping into Extra Foods the other day I realized how far we've come in Squamish with plastic bags - or perhaps I should say without. It wasn't long ago that store owners were saying that they couldn't possibly charge customers for plastic bags to encourage people to bring their own reusable bags, but what did Extra Foods do? They started charging for bags. And have they lost customers? It sure doesn't seem like it. The only effect I can see is that a very large proportion of us - dare I say more than half of us - have changed our silly habits and bring our own bags. Kudos to you, Extra Foods, for being a leader. Now what about you, Nesters, and you, Save-On Foods?
