It was great to read in the letters to the editor on Nov. 30, Eric Andersen’s proposal for an arts, culture, and heritage strategy for Squamish, in which he shared a vision for a performing arts centre at Brennan Park.

A t the foot of the gondola on Nov. 29, it was a grey day with rain alternating between pouring and drizzling. I was skeptical there would be snow at all on the top. But as the gondola rose, Michael Buble began to softly sing.

A s any local who has tried to direct tourists to the Sea to Sky Gondola well knows, the lack of a southbound left turn signal off Highway 99 to access the attraction is a glaring omission.

Once again, we are witness to the annual gathering of eagles along our local rivers as these magnificent birds wander great distances in search of winter food. This is a particularly critical time for young eagles.

A truck pulls up at Newport Beach and a couple of guys jump out and load up the truck bed with wood, including logs, off the beach. A child picks up a unique looking, twisted piece of driftwood and wants to drag it home.

E verything considered, getting our children to school safely should be one of this community’s biggest priorities.

I am writing this because of what is happening to our Douglas fir trees and to our wild game in the Sea to Sky Corridor. These things are important not just to First Nations, but to everyone.

I t’s time to find a better solution to the tonnes of plastic in our oceans and shorelines. For me, this sank in with a passing comment from local conservationist, John Buchanan.

Being a parent is as challenging as it is rewarding and when it comes to teaching our children what they need to know to stay safe, it can be daunting.

This week’s mysterious oil spill into the bridge pond was eventually tracked down to a forgotten buried oil tank, that was blocks away from the impact area.
