Today it is hard to find a community in which you feel safe and secure to put down your roots, spread your network and begin a new life.

Especially, in a new community that is just starting to grow and there is always a sense of risk and uncertainty.

That is how Angie Vazquez, real estate advisor at Engel & Völkers, felt before leaving her native country of Mexico and her high-demand television job in Mexico City to move to British Columbia 10 years ago.

“When I first learned about Squamish, I thought it was a pit stop on the way to Whistler, I knew nothing about the community and what was waiting me there,” said Angie.

Angie attended the University of British Columbia to work on her English, worked with London Drugs before starting a new career following her passion: real estate. She familiarized herself with the various distinctive areas of the province, as well as research what young families were looking for.

In no time, Squamish became home.

Squamish has become known as the outdoor recreation capital of the province, with endless activities like biking, hiking, camping, fishing and more. Nestled between the Chief Mountain and the Squamish River, the northern town is a breathtaking escape filled with lakes, waterfalls and green as far as the eye can see.

With the installation of Sea to Sky Gondola at the entrance to Squamish, tourism to the region has spiked and what was once just a pit stop on the way to internationally known ski destination Whistler has become a bustling, hotly desirable town.

Angie is passionate about spreading the word about Squamish and helping those looking to settle down in the mountain-bound town to find a home that is comfortable, affordable and fits all your needs.
