Rob Weys

I have enjoyed living in Squamish for over a decade, with my wife Jill and three children.
We decided to live and raise a family in Squamish. For its affordability, nature, activities, and proximity to Vancouver and Whistler.
Born in Vancouver, raised in Fort Langley, BC. I first learned to Ski in Whistler in the late 70s.
Camping and fishing in Squamish was a large part of my youth. I lived and worked in Whistler in the early 90s, as the corridor began to grow and change. My college education, focused on business and political science. I spent many years living abroad, experiencing many cultures and countries. This has given me a a well balanced view of the world, an appreciation of our community even more.
My business experience includes working for Danone, Canadian Springs, Yellow Media, and the Freundenderg Group.I have worked with FATD Canada promoting businesses abroad. As well as starting and running a local business in Squamish - Haymack Autoglass. Through these roles, I have gained extensive experience in business development,
management, operations, and marketing. I have worked closely with federal agencies, provincial ministries, municipalities, foundations, charities, first nations, and numerous chamber of commerce groups throughout the province.
I am currently a Director with the Squamish Youth Soccer Association, Tantalus Wellspring Society, and member of the Squamish Breakfast Club. These groups promote and support youth programs within Squamish.
I have lobbied for lower tax rates, lower utility rates, opposed the youth field user fees. Promoted local and regional transit expansion, additional community amenities. Pushed for more transparency of the Squamish Oceanfront Development Corporation, and supported the Sea to Sky Gondola project.
