I am 35 Years old. Raised in Squamish. Married with (3) Children and reside in Brackendale. A Graduate of Howe Sound Secondary School with partial designations from IBABC, IICRC and IIBC.
I am an Insurance Claims Adjuster with over 18 years of experience in the Insurance Industry. Specifically in the Claims and Property Restoration fields.
I have volunteered countless hours with numerous local community groups and Associations such as Squamish Minor Hockey, Howe Sound Minor Baseball and Squamish Slo-pitch Association. Currently I am Vice President, Referee in Chief and an active Official for Squamish Minor Hockey. Additionally I am a Head Coach – Rally Cap Division - Howe Sound Minor Baseball. I have previously presided over a local Residential Strata Complex for 4 years and also organized a charity fundraiser for various Provincial Cancer Foundations and Local Minor Hockey.
My work and volunteer experiences provide me a solid foundation, understanding and working knowledge of Meeting Structure, Debate, Insurance, Building Code and Practices, Liability Law, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Problem Solving and Communication skills that are an asset for an elected official.
I am rooted and dedicated to my community, passionate, proud and committed to the development and growth of this town, its people and the youth.
I believe there has been a fundametal disconnect with local council and residents. Too often consultants have replaced local dialogue on important issues.
Community input and feedback is essential to local governance and our town needs to return to local engagement with District Staff and Council.
If Elected, the items I would like to address would be:
1. Commmunity Engagement & Transparency w/ Council
2. Upgrades to local Infrastructure
-Roads, Fire Hall, Recreation Center
3. Increased Family Resources
-Child Care Spaces, Support Networks, Facilities, Childrens Water Park
4. Establish Uniform Zoning/Re-Zoning Application Proccesses
5. Establish Uniform and Consice Building Development Applications & Procedures
6. Increase Local Employment Opportunity
- Job Creation, Attraction of New Business, Retention of existing Business
7. Creation of Community Youth Sport & Recreation Committee
-To Guide our Recreation Master Plan and associated fee structures for Youth
-Assist council and staff with reccomendations to guide youth sport in our community
I don't have all the answers to fulfilling my political wish list. However, I have the drive and passion to work to make my vision a reality and will work with fellow Council and Staff to achieve common goals.
I whole heartedly welcome the opportunity to be included in this election and possibly afforded the honor of being elected as a representitive to serve my town and the community.
