Students would’ve picked Mike Young as mayor of Squamish. Squamish First would’ve gained a decisive hold over council.

The sitting councillor and owner of Republic Bicycles is poised to take the District’s highest position.

'Everywhere you go in Squamish, there’s a rather awkwardly-posed politician smiling from an election sign, or in other cases, merely the wannabe politician’s name.'

Those vying for the mayor and council seats fielded questions from Squamish community.

'As citizens, our civic duty, if we actually want a democracy, is to remember that transparency brings trust and to demand honest information and principles of decency.'
