The family asked that, in place of a photo, we use a butterfly, because Ev loved them.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Lapointe on Oct. 15, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Real, daughter Debbie, sister Grace and brother Doug. She is survived by her daughter Diana (David); sons Ray (Tammy), Jamie and Mark; grandchildren Steven (Kristin), Chaya (Brad), Maggie (Brad), Marcel, Jacob and Quinn and great-grandchildren Madeleine, Ethan, Anias, Ainsley and Addilyn.

Ev, as she was known by friends and family, was born in Pointe-Saint-Charles, Montreal, in 1937.

She lived in Montreal until 1970, when the family embarked on a cross-country move to Squamish, where she lived for more than 50 years.

In Squamish, Ev loved to spend time at Rose Park, often with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, trying to keep up with her on her scooter. She also loved spending time at Porteau Cove.

Ev was a rock to everyone in the family. From looking after the grandchildren when they were young to having toys and other treats always ready for the great-grandchildren, Evelyn was a huge part of everyone's life.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that supported Evelyn; Dr. Jamieson, Dee Brown, Sharron Coderre, the palliative nursing team, home care support, the nurses at Squamish General Hospital and all of her loving friends.

A celebration of Evelyn's life took place for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Evelyn's name to the Union Gospel Mission (ugm.ca).
