Obituary: Maitland Stuart Carey

March 8, 1948, to July 21, 2022 — He lived a full and happy life and was happiest when serving and helping others.

Mait passed away peacefully at home into the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Saviour, on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

He was a beloved husband, father, Papa and uncle. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Mary, his daughter Dianna (Clay), his daughter-in-law Theresa (Fernando), his grandchildren Brittany (Cody), Sarah (Ryan), Taylor (Frankie), Nolan, Stanley, Anthony, and Tesla.

He had seven great-grandchildren: Kane, Chantel, Catori, Tiara, Markus, Alora and Brandon.

His brother Phillip (Esther), mother-in-law May, sister-in-law Connie (Bruce) and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, extended family, church family and good friends. He was predeceased by his son Bob and parents Conrad and Randi Carey.

His hobbies included singing, fishing, walking and volunteering in the community.

Mait was a hard worker.

He built houses and did carpentry work.

He worked for Garibaldi Building Supplies and Squamish Valley Golf Course for many years.

Mait will be remembered for his quick humour, his love of entertaining and his deep love of for his family.

He lived a full and happy life and was happiest when serving and helping others.

The Carey Family gratefully express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Van Aardt, Dr Bull, and all the Health Care workers and friends who supported him on his journey.

Funeral Services for Mait will be held at Squamish Baptist Church on Sept. 10, 2022.
