As 2017 draws to a close, the Squamish Hospital Foundation would like to thank our donors, sponsors and volunteers who have made this another successful year.

I t’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around Squamish, with coloured lights adorning neighbourhood homes, folks parading around in those awful gaudy holiday sweaters, and endless festive musical classics being piped into every business.

I am British Citizen, married to a Canadian, and now a permanent resident of Canada.

There have recently been two very good articles in The Chief and its Discover Squamish magazine about art venues and the arts in our community.

W e have an amazing staff at the District. They are dedicated, capable, innovative and caring.

O ur province needs to inject a whole lot more into British Columbia’s health care system. Here in Squamish we don’t yet have to wait long at our emergency room and we can all access a family doctor, but we are lucky. Emergency room wait times in B.

I t is hard to imagine where we go from here, but we have to try.

A nd they’re off. The 2018 municipal budget sweepstakes are underway. Where they will end up is anybody’s guess.
