Re: “Elk killed near Squamish,” March 25.

Re: “No blue trees, please,” Editorial, April 2. I agree that Squamish is one of the most beautiful places in the northwest and a wonderful respite for Vancouverites and others from the urban centre.

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but after countless conversations with a diverse group of parents and some thoughtful introspection on my part, I’ve come to the conclusion that as a society, we’ve lost our collective mind.

Earlier this year, the news that Squamish made the list of The New York Times top 52 places to visit in 2015 sent the town into a frenzy.

Sometimes, things happen exactly as they should. The SPCA in Squamish needed to raise funds to care for the many creatures left in its care.

The madness is upon us. Spring is here and with it, the beginning of cycling season. And cycling season can only mean one thing: soon cyclists and drivers will be bickering about who are the most dangerous users of the road.

Squamish is a unique place, where visitors come to escape to nature, where residents open their blinds in the morning and can’t believe they get to live in a place surrounded by enchanting mountains and touched by the sea.

Are there any labour activists in Squamish? Had things gone according to plan, there would have been a story two weeks ago in this paper about the position of local unions on some of the big issues facing Squamish: the proposed Woodfibre LNG export f

The beauty of a garden depends on the resources and tools available that help each plant to flower. Similarly to a garden, a community in which everyone is nurtured is a community that flourishes.

My head is clear. I have happy thoughts instead of doomy thoughts. I explored the work of the Squamish Watershed Society, and ponder the immense carbon sink that a regenerated estuary provides. Squamish is popular.
