We often use this editorial space to bemoan Squamish’s shortcomings, and that is a vital role of a local paper. But we also like to sing the town’s praises when things go right, too.

The video starts out with some melancholy piano music, the kind Sarah McLachlan might play on a rainy afternoon after her hamster died.

The highway is a constant in our lives. There is no avoiding it. Each of us knows someone who is driving, riding or crossing the highway at any given moment of the day. We have an intimate relationship with the highway.

Editor’s note: The following is a letter from Jennifer Mansour’s class at Learning Connections. We don’t know for sure, but there has been talk about a Great Wolf Lodge possibly wanting to come to Squamish. I don’t think this is a good idea.

Exactly how does Squamish municipal Coun. Susan Chapelle, understand the phrase “Conflict of Interest”? As it turns out, not so much. The concept is really pretty simple.

Editor’s note: This letter was sent to the SLRD and copied to The Chief. This correspondence is regarding the proposed major amendment to the Squamish – Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) Regional Growth Strategy (RGS).

We are the Hilltop House Support Society. Hilltop House is home to the residents that live there and, from what we observe, are supported by a caring staff and management team.

Last year, as a high school student, I went to Hilltop House every afternoon to volunteer. It was a great privilege be able to put a smile on the faces of the elderly residents as well as learn from their lives and experiences.
