Well, here we are coming down the home stretch! Just eight months until we have a new council. I must say I understand City Hall now. It is not what I expected when I started. I now realize the time required to do anything - i.e. process.

Watching Olympic TV coverage these days, you can often overhear the commentators' astonishment about the popularity of one particular Olympic sport: biathlon.

Editor's note: This is a letter to Squamish's mayor and council. It was forwarded to The Chief for publication. Our town has a bylaw "to prevent unsightliness and other objectionable situations." Bylaw 1868 appears to cover all possible situations.

EDITOR, Re. "Town-wide fireworks ban eyed," Chief, Feb. 13. Really! It seems like some of our council members and the fire chief need a reminder of the joy that fireworks can bring to both children and the young at heart.

EDITOR, For the record, let me say that I have never used a drive-through. In the past, this was mostly because I could not see the point.

The Squamish Public Library and Quest University Canada lecture series continues at the library tonight (Thursday, Feb. 13) at 6:30 p.m. when the guest speaker will be Dr. I-Chant Chiang. She will speak about How Children Learn Language.

If you could hop in a time machine and travel 10 years into the past, your younger self would find the technological advances you could describe coming in the next decade hard to believe.

EDITOR, Re. "GAS development footprint being reduced," Chief, Jan. 30. Back up the train, halt the presses. GAS has made a "huge mistake.
