EDITOR, I am writing this letter to The Chief, DOS Parks and Rec and to Mayor Gardner.

Driving into work on Tuesday (Nov. 22), I glanced to the side of the highway and was pleased to see some of the lush greenery for which Squamish is so renowned. Gone were the signs, the promises and the platforms.

EDITOR,I'd like to take this opportunity as a local business owner and passionate Squamish resident of 10 years to endorse Auli Parviainen for mayor.

A funny thing happened online this week. Well, actually, two did. First, video of yours truly being interviewed about this newspaper's role in the municipal election was posted on MySquamish.com.

EDITOR, I am writing in response to "Sign complaint" (Letters, Chief, Nov. 11). The signs in question are my "Squamish hearts Phil" signs.

EDITOR, This is the first time in a long while I've taken intense interest in city council and the mayor. I have compiled my "dream team" for the people to occupy those positions. Mayor: Rob Kirkham.

EDITOR, Squamish has transitioned into a bedroom community, which presents a very big challenge. Proper vision and a clear local action are needed to turn this challenge into opportunity.

Compared to some other jurisdictions the local municipal election campaign has been a welcome oasis of decorum. Vancouver held a circus sideshow, loosely referred to as a mayoral race.

EDITOR, What a Remembrance Day we were so fortunate to celebrate last Friday in Squamish - a testament to the democratic rights and freedoms that underpin the peace, order and good government at Canada's core.

EDITOR, No-one can argue that fact that past industry in the Howe Sound area has caused a great deal of harm to the environment, but do we go into a future without industry as part of the plan? Do we become a community of commuters driving hours each
