I remember Vancouver's bid to host the 2010 Olympics, and have to admit I wasn't exactly on the bandwagon.

I am completely letting Team Canada down in ski jumping in Vancouver 2010. I've already won Gold Medals for Canada at the Winter Olympic sports of Men's Super G, Bobsleigh, Luge and a couple snowboard events. But not ski jumping.

Along with everyone else, I want to take the opportunity to say "Go Canada" as the Vancouver-Whistler Olympic Games begin today with the opening ceremonies at B.C. Place Stadium.

The 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal are possibly best remembered for Mayor Jean Drapeau's assertion that the Olympics "can no more have a deficit than a man can have a baby.

Editor, It has come to my attention that the most recent CEO hired by our Squamish Oceanfront Development Corporation has resigned. Obviously, he lacked vision and passion, or he would have had the commitment to follow through.

Whether your heart is glowing proudly or your stomach is churning bitterly, the Olympics are finally here. It's time to lighten up.

"No battle plan survives contact with the enemy" is an old military maxim -and given the increased military presence in the Sea to Sky Corridor in the lead-up to the Olympics, it seems appropriate to use it here.

Editor, I've read the occasional letter complaining about the litter around Squamish. From my observations, I don't believe the problem is with our good residents but with our garbage collection system.

Story: It's Olympics time, and that means it's time to celebrate and cheer on Canada's athletes as they participate in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Editor, I think restricting access is a very importantissue that deserves far more clarification in any procedural bylaw ["Bylaw changes 'troubling' Patterson," The Chief, Jan. 22].
