Feb. 15, 2011 was a very significant day for the District of Squamish. On that day, our staff tabled three reports that are fundamental to managing our municipality in a responsible and sustainable manner.

EDITOR, I'd like to propose that Squamish implement a ban on single-use plastic bags. Single-use plastic bags present a great threat to our environment on multiple levels.

EDITOR, I have never written before and I have often been thinking of issues that needed to be addressed. But this time I cannot control myself any longer on the parking issue at the Brackendale Post Office.

EDITOR, You may not know me but I'm your neighbour. I have lived here for close to 20 years. I work out of my house most days, spend my evenings quietly at home, sometimes I have company over but they are always gone well before night time.

EDITOR, I would like to thank the person who is clearing the Westway sidewalks after a snowfall.

It has been a dark start to the year for man's best friend. On Jan. 31, news broke that up to 100 sled dogs were slaughtered in Whistler last April.
