Len Dumka, age 89, of Port Coquitlam, B.C., (formally of Squamish), passed away at his home on Dec. 4, 2022.

Len was born on Jun. 24, 1933, in Yorkton, Sask. to Henry and Ann Dumka.

Len had a twin brother Lawrence who passed away at approximately three years of age. Len was also predeceased by his parents and older brothers, Walter and Terry.

Len grew up with his three brothers and two sisters. He moved to Alberta to find work, and in the 50s he settled in B.C. He met and married Dorothy (Nimeth) Dumka in 1973. Together they had a daughter Patricia in 1972.

Len was a very loving, involved and hands-on dad to Patricia. Always helping out with school events and dance events that Patricia was involved in.

Len worked at many different jobs in his 89 years, but the majority of his work life was for the District of Squamish, where he retired as a much loved and valued maintenance staff member.

He was a friendly and helpful person to all who came in contact with him at the rink.

In the prime of his life, he enjoyed playing and watching hockey, curling, volunteering, having coffee with the guys downtown and helping out friends and family.

He was especially proud and enjoyed being a grandpa to Caleb and Grace.

He would often watch Caleb play Lacrosse and watch Grace dance.

Many will remember his master skill at Burl Clock making. He was also quite handy at building, fixing and repairing almost anything.

Len is survived by his brother Donald (Verna) Dumka, Robert Dumka, sister Marie Duncan, his daughter Patricia (Chris) Foley, grandchild Caleb and Grace Foley, grand dog Dublin, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration for Len's life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. at St. Clare's Parish Hall, 2888 Delahaye Dr. Coquitlam, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in honour of Len to the B.C. Children's Hospital or the BCSPCA.

Dad, I will always remember the wonderful father you were to me and hold the memories of our good times close to my heart forever.
