It must be at least seven years now since the new highway was built. I would like to know how the movers and shakers in this community get to and from work.

When did it become a crime to be black? What an awful reality that is. That a young black boy has to hide his skin from a police officer or they’re at risk of losing their life.

In response to the letter from Fortis BC, published in The Chief a couple of weeks ago: Fortis has been fast to react to the recent activities organized by local residents.

D o online comment forums have a future? The answer to that question is a definitive maybe. According to the CBC’s resident pundit Rick Mercer, at one time the idea of a virtual online debate had considerable upside. But that has changed.

I t is an understatement and becoming cliché to say Squamish is changing. It seems not a week goes by without talk of a new development or initiative in the district. Some changes have caused consternation among residents.

S ummer means music festivals. There was this weekend’s event in Pemberton, and of course everyone was expecting Squamish’s own fest to follow on Pemby’s heels – until it was cancelled, though we’re not entirely sure it’s dead or simply dormant.

I watched the live streamed Squamish Council Committee of the Whole meeting wrestle again with the IFHMP.

I feel compelled to write and compliment the staff at Squamish General Hospital. Our friend was recently admitted to a hospice bed at the hospital during her short and very brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Re: Letter “Woodfibre LNG safety questions” (July 13, 2016) The Woodfibre LNG Project is being designed by a team of registered professionals with international LNG experience.

The pabulum that the taxpayers are fed is the policing and increased infrastructure costs are what is driving the tax increases. Salaries and wages is without any other costs is over a $1,000 per year.
