I t’s official. As of Aug. 3, five new sports have been allowed into the illustrious, velvet-draped halls of the Olympics. The new choices, the IOC declared, will bring fresh, youthful energy to the games.

As a mom, we’re programmed to worry.

I must comment on the article in July 21 edition of The Squamish Chief. The thing that poses a safety hazard on the whole of the Sea to Sky highway is moronic behavior behind the wheel of a “lethal weapon” a.k.a. automobile or motorcycle.

A few weeks ago police raced to a neighbourhood in Sooke on Vancouver Island after receiving reports of a group fighting with bats and pipes.

The reign of error ends soon. Actually, filling in as interim editor, or “Interim Glorious Leader” as I like to call it, has gone more smoothly than expected. As I’ve told people in the office, it has not come without cost for we editorial folk.

I am commenting on the recent document circulated in the Squamish area by the “Concerned Residents of Valleycliffe” (CRV), entitled “FortisBC Compressor station on Mount Mulligan threatens Valleycliffe.

Regarding the front-page article on Lions Bay: I drive the Sea to Sky daily for work and that stretch of the highway has always bothered me. I’ll slow down to 75km/h, and I constantly get passed by cars doing 90.
