No matter where you live, there are people who will reject your idea before you get to the end of your first sentence explaining it.

Had I found a place to live? That was the first question people asked when I arrived here last month. I had looked at a Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation report from 2014 that did indicate a near-zero vacancy rate.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to be one of the many refugees around the world who have been forced from their homeland.

I must admit, I did not expect the opposition I have encountered on our Squamish Alternative Energy Group initiative to make Squamish the next Canadian Solar City, even if this opposition has come from a very small contingent.

As a homeowner and resident of Squamish, I would like to comment on the Nov. 12 letter by Matt Blackman regarding council discussions on solar energy.

Re: “Squamish now ‘Bear Stupid,’” (letter, Nov. 5): Whether food scraps go in a garbage tote or an organics tote does not change the fact that they are a bear attractant.

Re: “Blue trees an insult to real artists” (letter to the editor, Nov. 5). Yes, you could have painted trees blue and been stopped and charged, but you didn’t. This artist did. He did the proposal, he came up with the concept, he executed it.

With the Brackendale Art Gallery up for sale – understandably so, as Thor Froslev has more than reached the age of retirement – I would hate to see the site of this iconic institution “developed.
