This month, the province of British Columbia honours the entrepreneurial spirit by declaring October Small Business Month.

It sounds like the kind of problem that everyone would love to have: You have to give away three-quarters of a million dollars to some deserving group for some worthy project.

Editor, As an RMOW employee living in Squamish, I rely on the number 98 Bus to get to work ["Council considers commuter," The Chief, Oct. 8].

Dear Sylvie Paillard, I am writing to correct several inaccuracies in your editorial "Out of touch," [The Chief, Oct. 8].

Fall is a time to prepare for winter. Freezing temperatures and reduced sunlight make nutrients hard to come by, so animals and plants have developed mechanisms to reduce their need for energy.

Editor, I am writing in regards to your front page article in The Chief that was published on Oct. 8 ("Diverse groups compete for $750K Olympic legacy"). For 13 years now, Squamish soccer has been a huge part of my life.

This letter was sent to District of Squamish council and copied to The Chief for publication. While we have finally been blessed by the Olympics and are in receipt of Legacy Funds, the hard part is still to come.

When we are creating plans for self-care we often forget to include the amount of sleep we get every night. Other things are important but an adequate amount of sleep is the most significant thing that we can do for ourselves.

It is a rite of passage for the 16-year-old, something awaited with anxiety and desire by most teens. When the time comes, they take it very seriously, studying hard in advance. Then they get their learner's permit.

Editor, The discussions with CN in Whistler about excessive railway noise in Squamish were at least acknowledging the issue, and thanks to the participants ["CN meets with district regarding noise," The Chief, Oct. 1].
