I've had a Ray Bradbury short story "All Summer in a Day" on my mind these past few weeks. The story is about a human colony on the planet Venus in which the sun shines only two hours every seven years.

According to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a science fiction series by Douglas Adams, space is "big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind bogglingly big it is. And so on.

EDITOR, It can truly be said that it is the few nasty folks that we encounter in our life's circles that can often ruin it for the rest almost, that is.

EDITOR, Salt Spring Island has public transit. In June they initiated route No. 6 and service every day of the year. Lions Bay has 15 to 19 buses per weekday, connecting with Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver and Vancouver.

EDITOR, Canada Day is a time for celebration. It's the people of Squamish creating a Canadian flag out of red cupcakes and white cupcakes, displayed on toothpicks and arranged in just the perfect layout.

EDITOR, I liked being a barber a lot better before I became a substantial tax collector. I also liked being a barber a lot better before my trade was subject to Gordon Campbell's Privatize and Deregulate strategy.
