With all due respect to Ginger, Posh, Baby, Scary and Sporty - girl power may have truly arrived on Saturday (Feb. 23). And it wasn't through a flashy marketing campaign or a music video. It was in the octagon.

Tomorrow (Friday, March 1) at 7 p.m. the World Day of Prayer Service will be hosted by Squamish United Church on Fourth Avenue.

EDITOR, It would be easy to misconstrue yesterday's high-impact Asian New Year Celebration at Park Royal as merely a cultural success.

EDITOR, Our family will also be sorry to see the Highland Video storeclose. Mr. Choo has been an excellent example of a goodcitizen. We were always assured of good service, and affordable prices... year after year.

Chicken Little was right. The sky actually is falling. Well, not the blue, nothingness we call sky, but rather big honking chunks of space debris hurtling through it that's what's falling.

The other day, at the suggestion of Scott Noelle (whom I've mentioned in this column before), I sat and watched the water drops as they formed and slid down my shower door.

EDITOR, It is very sad to see Highland Video close after all these years - definitely an end to an era ("Highland Video closing its doors," Chief, Feb. 7). Highland Video was opened in 1983 by Gwen and Bern Taylor and Al Newman.

It doesn't seem to matter how big or small the environmental damage is: The bureaucratic response to spills of toxic substances seldom, if ever, seems adequate -certainly not enough to convince big industrial users to take steps to prevent the next o
