Re: “Landowners offer to help build dike” (April 14). Mayor Patricia Heintzman’s reasons to spend $100 million on a dike infrastructure are not grounded on facts.

While most of Squamish is still deep in slumber, they awaken early to begin their daily routines and start the trek to the big city. For people who commute to Vancouver, the drive seems to make sense.

A small correction to an otherwise excellent article about the Smoke Bluffs Park in Lifestyle (“Do you know why it’s called Smoke Bluffs?” April 14), in which the author indicates the main users of this park are walkers.

When I was in my 20s, my husband and I decided to take a year off and bicycle across 21 countries around the world. To prepare, we saved for a year, and our only expenditures were for equipment for the trip.

Tiny houses have become the rage lately, and it makes sense.

As much as district officials have assigned the Squamish affordable housing problem to the front burner, they will be challenged to find answers without a concerted effort from all the stakeholders involved.

Squamish is in dire need of a palliative care facility. People are dying of long-term diseases such as cancer in emergency rooms, or even, like my late husband Pete Austen, in the only available empty room at the hospital.

Re: “Goldsmith-Jones needs to clarify LNG approval” (letter, April 7). The protection of Howe Sound is of great importance to me as well. This is our home, and I know that protecting our environment is a tremendous priority for all of us.

Get two people in a room and there will be two opinions around affordable housing.

When I was young, I lived in a small town. A young gay boy was being bullied by a few of the older tough guys. They were pushing him and calling him names I can’t repeat.
