Editor’s note: This is a copy of a letter to District of Squamish council and staff. It was copied to the Squamish Chief for publication. I have been a resident and homeowner at 38163 Clarke Dr. on Hospital Hill since May 1997.

Mr. Weston’s letter promoting Enbridge last week has prompted me to share my experience of 26 summers plying our northern coastal waters as a commercial fisherman.

A couple weeks ago, our little town of Hood River, Ore., lost an amazing dear friend and athlete at Whistler Park. He was an experienced rider and very involved in building trails and skills areas for riders.

I have lived in Squamish for almost two years and after moving to semi-retire I decided, along with my wife Antje, to look for voluntary avenues to fill our time as well as add to the community that we now call home.

Bicycle riders! I ride bike every day and see other cyclists riding with their children and not wearing helmets. Some children wear their helmets and some do not.
