Last Saturday (Sept. 10), with radiant sunshine gracing a bluebird sky, local residents and visitors from afar flocked to the Brackendale Fall Fair in the Brackendale Farmers Institute Park on Government Road.

What in the world is happening to the local economy? It all depends on where you look. Between 2007 and 2010 the total value of construction in the District of Squamish tumbled from $75 million to $25 million.

We all know that getting out and interacting with nature makes us feel good. A simple walk in the forest can do wonders for relieving stress, as can time spent in the garden.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, my four-year-old son, Aidan, and I were to fly home to Evans Lake after a long visit with my mother in Mount Holly, Vt.

Brackendale Fall Fair organizer Thor Froslev is ready to welcome the community to the 17th annual Fall Fair tomorrow (Sept. 10) with gates open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

EDITOR, It was troubling to read local reactions to recent cougar encounters ("Two cougars kill Squamish family's cat," Chief, Sept. 2). The Chief reported on a resident, Enzo Milia, expressing worries about a cougar killing his family's cat.

EDITOR,The No. 98 Squamish Commuter transit service ends this month. This loss takes the Sea to Sky community back to where we were in the 1990s. We are where the Sunshine Coast was in the 1980s.

We all remember where we were and how we heard about the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States.
