In January, 25,000 soccer fans bought out the lower bowls of B.C.

Admittedly, I spend a lot of my time thinking about how I can do things better. I've been told I am a frustrated perfectionist, which I think may be a slight downgrade from someone who has actually mastered the perfectionist thing.

My friend Pete is addicted to heroin. He's stuck pretty bad, both feet in the trap.

EDITOR, There is much ado about the radio frequency emanations from the new electric meters on which nothing much is agreed ("Smart meters 101," Chief, Aug. 2). There are those who claim it harms and those who claim it does not.

I wanted to say, "Hey, lose 20 pounds, put down that cream-cheese-covered cinnamon bun, and then you can tell me what to do." But instead I just said, "Thanks for your concern, but I think I'm OK.

Up bright and early for the bird count will be members of the Squamish Environmental Society on Sunday (Aug. 12) at 7 a.m. at the Howe Sound Inn and Brew Pub. The group will be looking for shore birds migrating south from the Arctic.

Since becoming a resident in B.C. I have spent my time pursuing opportunities for work and play to learn more about Canadian culture and develop new skills. It's been a busy and energizing time.

Just a few years ago, Squamish had at least three stores where people could rent a movie. Today there's only one.

EDITOR, It is upsetting to read of Garibaldi 5 Cinema's difficulties. Rent of $36,000 a month, plus staff, plus hydro and of course movie and other attendant costs make for a pretty big hurdle to climb in a community of 17,000.
